Motorola Razr+ 2025 review
A flip phone that gives up almost nothing, with an outer screen that does most of the work.

The verdict
The Razr+ 2025 is the point at which folding phones stopped asking for a sacrifice — it folds into a pocket, runs a fast chip, survives a splash, and the cover screen handles enough that you often never open it. Just know that the hardware underneath is largely last year's.
Buy it if
- You want a phone that disappears into a pocket without giving up screen size
- You are on any US carrier — it is universally unlocked
- You want the outer display to handle payments, maps and notifications without opening the phone
- You charge in short bursts and want 45W to top up in about twelve minutes
Skip it if
- A visible crease down the middle of the main screen will bother you
- You are upgrading from the 2024 Razr+ — the core hardware is unchanged
- You need more than IP48 — it resists splashes and short immersion, not dust
- You want long zoom reach — 2x optical is as far as it goes

What it is
A compact clamshell that unfolds into a 6.9-inch phone with a fast chip and 12 GB of memory. The pitch is simple: the same phone you would buy anyway, folded in half so it fits where a slab does not.
Owners coming from Samsung Galaxy slabs describe it as smaller and lighter with no meaningful loss, and several who had never used a flip phone before describe the compactness as the thing that sold them. One long-time Galaxy owner switched and stayed, singling out the notification shade as more usable than the one he left behind.
What the listing gets wrong
Three fields in the specification table contradict the description sitting directly above them. Worth knowing before you compare spec sheets.
The processor field reads Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The description on the same page, and the seller's own side-by-side comparison, both say Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Those are different chips — the 8s is the cut-down part — and the 3 GHz ceiling quoted in the bullets matches the 8s. Treat the attribute field as an error.
The storage field reads 12 GB. That is the memory figure repeated in the wrong row. The product title and the comparison table both say 256 GB, and there is no card slot to extend it.
The screen size field reads 6.9 inches with no mention of a second screen. That is the main display only. The cover display is 4.0 inches, and on this phone it is the screen you will spend the most time looking at.
Refresh rate is absent altogether. Both displays run at up to 165 Hz. The rear camera row is understated too: it lists a single 50 MP sensor, where the phone has a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP 2x telephoto.
How much of this is actually new
Put the 2025 Razr+ next to the 2024 Razr+ in the seller's own comparison and the rows line up almost exactly: the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the same 4000 mAh battery, the same 45W charging, the same 12 GB and 256 GB, the same 6.9-inch main panel and 4.0-inch cover screen.
What the maker claims for the 2025 model is IP48 water and particle protection, a titanium-reinforced hinge and the moto ai feature set, which needs an account login and a working network connection to do anything. The older model is still on sale alongside it.
If you are coming from a phone that is several years old, none of this matters and the 2025 is the one to buy. If you already own the 2024 Razr+, the case for upgrading is thin and you should read the durability claims closely before spending the difference.
The external display does more than you expect
The outer screen is 4 inches at 1272 x 1080 and runs at up to 165 Hz, which is enough resolution and enough smoothness to run real apps rather than widgets. Owners report using tap-to-pay, Maps, calendar and EV charging apps entirely with the phone closed.
The exception worth knowing: authenticator apps do not always cooperate with the cover screen. If two-factor codes are part of your daily routine, expect to open the phone for those.
The fold, the crease and the hinge
The hinge is titanium-reinforced and moves smoothly. The crease is visible when the phone is open — owners consistently confirm this and just as consistently report not caring after the first week.
Durability in practice looks good. One owner runs the phone with no case at all, has dropped it more than once, and reports no damage to either screen thanks to the factory-applied protectors. The same owner rates the grip as merely acceptable; a grippy case is a sensible first purchase if you are not planning to be careful.
The longer-term question is dust. IP48 covers solid objects larger than a millimetre, which is a meaningful limit: a hinge is a mechanical part that opens and closes many times a day, and pocket lint is smaller than a millimetre. This is the honest argument against expecting a decade out of any folding phone.
Camera
A 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP 2x telephoto and a 32 MP front camera, with Motorola's AI processing layered on top. Owners rate the results well without reaching for superlatives. Note that the seller's specification table lists only the main sensor, which understates what the phone actually has. The genuinely useful trick is folding the phone partway and standing it up, which turns it into its own tripod for group shots and video calls.
Battery life and charging
4000 mAh in a folding body, which is a reasonable figure for the format and identical to last year's. 45W TurboPower is the more important number: roughly twelve minutes gets you through the day, which changes how you think about charging — you top up while making coffee instead of planning an evening on the cable.
Owners describe battery life as decent rather than exceptional, and several mention using the built-in charging limit settings to slow long-term wear.
Fingerprint reader placement
Small detail, repeatedly praised by owners: the sensor sits on the edge where your finger naturally lands when you pick the phone up. No reaching toward the screen, no smudges on the display. It is the kind of thing you only notice on phones that get it wrong.
Colors, and the two listings
The Pantone Mocha Mousse and Hot Pink versions are sold as separate listings with identical hardware; Midnight Blue exists as well. Both buttons above point at the same phone in different finishes.
One owner bought Midnight Blue, handed it to her fiancé and bought the pink one instead, and reports the color is true to the photographs — worth knowing, because saturated finishes photograph optimistically more often than not.
Living with it
Connectivity is unremarkable in the good sense: owners report no trouble with Bluetooth, no dropped pairings, and clean syncing to a desktop.
If you are arriving from a phone that is several years old, budget some patience. One owner moving up from Android 11 found the current version took a while to learn, and the activation step on the old handset was a minor irritation rather than a real obstacle. Nothing here is specific to the folding format.
Who it competes with
Against the Razr Ultra 2025 you give up the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the 165 Hz panel, 68W charging and a terabyte of storage. Against the base Razr 2025 you gain a faster chip, more memory and a sharper cover display. Against a conventional slab at the same price, you trade zoom reach and full dust resistance for a phone that fits in a jeans pocket.
